About Cash

Classical Beginnings

Downbeat Award Winning Artist Cash Globe is a jazz pianist whose musical roots trace back to his hometown in Colorado, USA. His journey in music commenced at age 6 as a classical pianist, diving deep into the compositions of Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninov. This classical foundation prepared him for what was to come. Cash won various classical competitions, and his classical training accumulated into his Junior Recital, performing Mozart, Liszt, Chopin, Bach, and Piazzolla.

Current Musical Landscape

As a multi-instrumentalist who also plays the drums, Cash continually explores and integrates new sounds and rhythms. His music is an amalgamation of the discipline and technique from his classical training, the spontaneity and freedom of jazz, and the insights from his other interests. Cash has performed with Jacob Scesney (Mike Posner, Casey Abrams), Graham Dechter, Marshall Hawkins, Laisha Deisadze, and many more.

Philosophy

For Cash, jazz and music are fundamentally about freedom, exploration, and forging connections. Music offers an escape, a way to transcend personal boundaries and delve into new realms of experience. It anchors one in the present, allowing for a full, rich experience of each moment. At its core, music is a profound reflection of life itself.

Beyond Music

Beyond his musical endeavors, Cash is also a student of science and the mind, equipped with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. He is multilingual (Spanish, conversational Portuguese, basic German) and deeply invested in philosophy of mind, studying consciousness in his free time. In addition, he regularly enjoys powerlifting and is a member of the 1000lb club. These interests enrich his understanding of the creative process, music, and life.

A Pivot to Jazz

Feeling constrained as a classical pianist, the turning point in Cash's musical career occurred at 18, under the mentorship of Marshall Hawkins at Idyllwild Arts Academy. Hawkins, known for his work with Miles Davis' Second Quintet, Richie Cole, Roberta Flack, and Shirley Horn, steered Cash towards the vibrant and expressive world of jazz and he felt an immediate connection. This marked a significant shift in his musical expression and philosophy. Just months after beginning jazz, he won an outstanding soloist award at the Reno Jazz Festival. Unsurprisingly, Jazz turned out to be in his blood, with a grand-uncle who was a jazz pianist that played with the great Charlie Parker.

Academic Excellence and Musical Mastery

Cash distinguished himself at both Idyllwild Arts Academy as a Classical and Jazz Pianist, and at the University of Northern Colorado in Jazz Studies, graduating top of his class. His academic journey was embellished with numerous awards and scholarships, underscoring a relentless dedication to his art. His mentors include, but are not limited to, Marshall Hawkins, Fred Hersch, Dana Landry, Camille Thurman, Richard Thompson, Jim White, Drew Zaremba, Steve Kovalcheck, and many more.
